Brooklyn Heights Firefighters From Engine 205 Ladder 118 Win Best BBQ Title

Jeannie Choi/WNYC

Yesterday afternoon, Fairway Market was the scene of the third annual Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off. Four teams competed for the grand prize: a $500 Fairway gift card, a donation to the firefighters’ charity of choice, and best of all, bragging rights for best BBQ. Jimmy Carino (pictured, right), who led the cooks of the Brooklyn Heights Engine 205 Ladder 118 , used a mix of Asian spices and jalapenos to liven up the works and bring home the trophy. WNYC’s site features the recipe for the winning Barbecue Chicken so you can score a victory on the grill yourself.

There are two firehouses in Brooklyn Heights…Hicks Street and Middagh Street. Also Tillary Street covers the Heights.

Jimmy is from Engine 205 ladder 118 down the block from my residence on Middagh. Great firehouse with a great bunch of guys.

  • David on Middagh

    Congratulations~!

I think the NYC firefighters are great. They’ve rescued me twice and I have great admiration for them. So, not only are they the best firefighters in the country, they are now the best barbecuers (is there such a word?). My heroes!!

  • David on Middagh

    Rescued twice?

Say, what were you doing up those trees, anyway?
