Like A Daisy I Need Water I Need Chestnuts To Consume Or A Neighbor Has A Squirrel Dilemma

This dispatch just in from an animal loving BHB reader:

This morning I was walking down Willow St. between Clark and Pierrepont and saw a sad sight – two likely orphaned squirrels. A larger squirrel had been hit by a car in the street and the two smaller squirrels continued to run out to sit by the body. I can only assume it was their mother who was hit. I had my dog and I have no idea how to help, but was curious if others had seen this or if folks knew of animal groups who could help.

Thoughts? Should she call 311?

But first…. enjoy the musical break above…

There are a number of wildlife rescuers in Westchester, a 1-hour drive or Metro north ride away. Different rescuers are certified for different animals. Try calling vets in Northern Westchester for referrals, or call places like Teatown Reservation in ossining. Remember that rescuers also appreciate a donation. I can’ see the end of my comment, so who knos what typos I havemade?!Ossining to get names. RRemember that referrals, or try callingi.
