According to the Brooklyn Paper, Continuum Health Partners, the owner and manager of Long Island College Hospital, has been “stonewalling” the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, which has insured $143 million of the Hospital’s debt, by failing to provide a plan to restore the institution to financial health.
The article also quotes Borough President Markowitz as criticizing Continuum for refusing to work with local officials and hospital staff to save the obstetrics and pediatrics departments, which Continuum has proposed to close.
