Source: Plans for 70 Henry Street Withdrawn from LPC Hearing

According to a BHB source the landlord of 70 Henry Street, Tom Caruana, has withdrawn his  proposal for a new structure at 70 Henry St. to Community Board 2’s Landmarks Committee.  The building currently is the home of the Brooklyn Heights Cinema, which would be displaced if the plan were to move forward.

No word yet on if this is simply a postponement or a permanent shift in plans.

If this pans out, it’s great news. The neighborhood really should have a quality cinema and the condo plan would never have been compatible.

Too bad we still won’t have a quality cinema.

Too bad. Guess we’ll just have to live with the dump. A new condo with a small cinema on the ground floor would have been amazing there.

@EHinBH I would be very surprised if the developer would actually build a condo with a cinema on the ground floor. The building could use a little TLC, but it is hardly a dump.
