Jeremy Lechtzin New Brooklyn Heights Association President

The Brooklyn Heights Association has announced that Jeremy Lechtzin is the new President of its Board of Governors. His President’s Message is here. According to the BHA:

He is an architectural historian and technology lawyer. Jeremy focuses his history work on early Brooklyn, currently writing a data-driven analysis of every house built in Brooklyn Heights and creating a digital map of the lost streetscape of the Village of Brooklyn as it existed in 1816.

He was honored as one of the BHB Ten for 2021 “for his passion for and vast knowledge of Brooklyn’s architectural history.” He also had a guest post on BHB in 2011 opposing construction of a “too massive” townhouse at 27 Cranberry Street. The Landmarks Preservation Commission denied plans for its construction.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this. Jeremy is a wonderful choice to carry the BHA flag, and it looks like he may soon have to hoist it. The Staten Island Advance leaked this photo over the weekend of a prototype facility targeted for a rollout in Brooklyn Bridge Park right after Memorial Day. If you’ve been bothered by the occasional helicopter hovering just offshore, trust me, it’s NOTHING – compared to the noise 2 dozen jetskis make!

A couple of years ago, I was walking in Brooklyn Bridge Park and chanced upon what looked like a bikers’ convention, but everyone was on jet skis, seemingly hundreds of dudes (and gals) weaving in and out between barges and ferries. They hung a right at the Staten Island ferry and went towards the Hudson. It was all very noisy.

Between the possibility of jet ski rentals on the Heights waterfront and the skateboard venue next door to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, we’ll have wall-to-wall dins in our last relatively quiet spaces.

Just want to point out this was posted on April 1st.

A perfect selection to lead BHA into the future. A brilliant individual who happens to have more knowledge of Brooklyn Heights architectural history than anyone on the face of the earth. My compliments to those who had the foresight in picking this superman.
