Thanks for the great video and keeping us informed- I was wondering what all the sirens were about last night.

Although those railings have been totally knocked over, though, I probably wouldn’t describe the damage to the building itself as “extensive”- like, part of a wall should be blown away for that to apply. And then the tragic music in the background as we survey the scene of devastation? Gasp! A tree guard has been knocked entirely askew! The horror! How shall we ever recover!? LOL!

But aside from the slight dramatic license, this story was very, helpful and well done overall. So, thanks again.

Nice work Karl. Eyewitness News ain’t got nothing on your production quality. Perhaps in 2012 a mic with BHB written on all four corners of the cube above the handle? Homer, is it in the budget?

  • AEB

Not an auspicious beginning to 2012 for the building owners. Love the “big-town crime-wave” music. (Would have preferred “The Rite of Spring,” but…)

    Thanks, Karl.

@AEB, technically it was an inauspicious end to 2011.

    Great work!! Really appreciate it!

Was NYPD able to catch the (alleged) shooter?
NYPD choppers were flying up/down the river with spotlights on but that could have just as easily been scanning for NYE pranksters in the park as searching for this guy.

    CORRECTION:

The correct address of the damaged properties was 108-110 Willow Street not 106. I apologize for the error.

Marc Hermann did an amazing job in gathering all the information with regards to the capture of the perp and the movement of the injured party. Nice Work.

bad damage on the stoops and historic ironwork. That will cost a pretty penny to restore especially if there is structural damage to the stoops.

There is an informal poll that’s taken every December 31 in the Police Department – which precinct will have the first shooting of the year? NOBODY had the 84.

  • Knight

Actually, WillowtownCop, I think this was in the running for last shooting of the old year. The 84 is still a virgin.

  • Monty

@WillowtownCop, the shooting was before midnight, so it was 2011. Also, it isn’t entirely clear if he was actually shot here or just crashed when he lost too much blood after driving from, let’s say, Paterson, NJ.

  • hicks st guy

@Willowtown Cop, what pct. did you have?

  • WillowtownCop

    @ Hicks St Guy – Housing: PSA 1 (60, 61, 63, 69, 76, 78) and PSA 2 (73, 75, 77)

  • weegee

My newsroom poll was split three-ways between the 67, 75, and the 28. We were all wrong…Grand & Bushwick seemed to have the first shooting.

  • WillowtownCop

    That’s the 81, I believe.
