Brooklyn Women’s Exchange Re-Opens After Summer Vacation

Although the store, and the current edition of Wendy’s Windows, are shrouded by the sidewalk bridge that spans the front of 55 Pierrepont Street, the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange re-opened for business Sunday, following its customary closure for summer vacation. BWE offers a wide variety of hand-crafted goods, made by independent artisans, including children’s and doll’s clothing, baby gifts, toys, ceramics, carvings, other household items, jewelry and accessories such as bags and umbrellas, as well as books by local authors or about local topics.

Here’s a view of the store’s interior, also designed by Wendy. The Exchange’s hours are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; closed Monday. (Disclosure: your correspondent’s wife and daughter are both active in the work of the Exchange.)
