Pooch Poo Showdown on Cranberry

BHB snapped this photo of a sign on Cranberry Street between Hicks and Henry on Sunday afternoon. Seems that a “tall blonde young man” has at least one resident miffed as he’s allegedly not cleaning up after his two pooches – a “peke mix and one lhasa mix” according to the angry neighbor. The irony of the entire scenario is that the “scene of the crime” (if you will) is directly under a Koch-era pooper scooper sign:

And now ladies and gentlemen, the legendary consumer advocate Fran Lee and the greatest anchorman to ever walk Planet Earth Roger Grimsby discuss the pooper scooper:

dna sampling of dog poo? I’ve heard it all.

love dogs, have no respect for people who can’t pick up after them. We all know it’s the rule, it’s not pleasant, but if you can’t stomach cleaning up after them, you have no business owning a dog in NYC.

If it were my street, I’d stake it out and snap a picture of offender! “Dead or Alive posters on every corner! :-)

    Re Dogs and Children:

It is up to the dog’s owner to be responsible for socializing their animal in public. Clean up after them and keep them quiet. End of discussion.

But, at least my dog doesn’t throw his food around in restaurants nor emit blood-curdling screams when he does not get his way. But wait, maybe it is not the kid’s fault but their selfish overindulgent parents who feel their offspring should be allowed to behave as if they are at home – other paying customers be damned!!

Perhaps it is up to the parents to be responsible for socializing their children. Clean up after them and keep them quiet. End of discussion.

“Children get into everything and are so dirty”. And what to dogs do…drink from the toilet and smell each others butts. Yeah, real sanitary behaviour.

No one is focusing on the point which is finding the culprit!

at least dogs don’t grow up to be obnoxious teens who smoke cigarettes and make noise all around the St. Anne’s area.

Somebody want to hose down Cleveland?
BTW, what exactly is to be done with this man once he is identified? If he chooses to break the law, what position are we in (and I don’t mean squatting!) to do anything about it other than shaming him?

  • Zeekers

Question: What does a dog owner do about doggy diarrhea? Is it ok to leave it in the street? It’s impossible to pick up.

    zeekers,

Yet one more reason dogs need to be banned from NYC. My solution: dog diapers. To be emptied into the home garbage.

Or, alternately, mandatory euthanasia of all dogs in the five boroughs.

    canine cleansing.

    Fu…Ck you!

  • nabeguy

Ha, GHB!! Zeekers, your question points to the importance of curbing your dog. At least then, it’s somewhat out of peoples’ direct path way. Try carrying a bottle of water with which you can wash it off the sidewalk. Plus you also might want to think of changing your dogs diet.

Zeekers – For all of the above reasons, I carry newspaper and try to have my large breed dog poop on it. I like to be respectful of my neighbors no matter how rude they are to me (above).

Fu, you heartless bum: I’ll agree to getting rid of my dog only if I don’t have to support (with my tax dollars) your little brats. I don’t want to feed them or educate them or pay for any parks that your little darlings use. No free fares on trains, no baseball fields etc. unless you pay for them. YOU decided to bring the little tykes into the world so YOU can support them 100% And keep your hands out of my pockets!

Culprit found. It was Vespa Dog Walker in her tall blonde, young male costume.

I was told one early morning by a certain gentleman on Pierrpont that my dog should not be peeing on a tree because the area around it was a “garden”. The tree is surrounded by nothing but dirt. And no the dirt was not soil which could have plants/flowers grown in it. It was plain city dry crusty sandy dirt that couldn’t support a weed in it. So I responded to this wonderful gentleman with “where is the garden” to which he had no response. Its sad that people who spend there whole lives in the city think a garden is a tree surrounded by crudy diry.
