Mr. J’s Restaurant Update

Our man with cam tours the local culinary scene, pondering Siggy’s application to maintain its outdoor tables, taking a look inside Colonie, and returning to Mile End, where he heeds Felix Unger’s injunction: “Don’t forget to look at my meat!”. He doesn’t just look; he tastes. For his verdict, see the video after the jump.

Looks like Harold’s in Edison, NJ, my husband’s favorite restaurant. The sandwich looks great – I’ll have to try it, but as take-out since it includes my week’s ration of meat. Glad you returned to Mile End for the update. Thanx, Karl

So how much did that sandwich cost?

  • Karl Junkersfeld

    $9

    And worth every cent.

I’m pretty sure that’s not poutine. Poutine is french fries, cheese curds, and gravy. I suspect that’s their Smoked Meat Hash.

Regardless, I’m glad you revisited (and so soon). The sandwiches may seem a little on the small side depending on your expectations (either of sandwiches or for the price). I found them to be near the perfect size, given how much meat (and grease) is on that platter.
