Oscar Snubs Brooklyn Heights Neighbor Paul Giamatti

The Oscar nominations were released this morning. Notably missing from the list was Brooklyn Heights resident Paul Giamatti, who won the Best Actor Golden Globe for his role in Barney’s Version. As a matter of fact, the only nomination the critically acclaimed film received was for Makeup Artist — Canadian Adrien Morot:

The Star.com: On Tuesday morning before dawn in L.A., it came as a disappointment to the Barney team that there were no acting nominations and that the movie itself was not one of the 10 nominees for Best Picture of the Year.

But thanks to Morot, Barney did at least get onto the Oscar scoreboard.

That’s cause for jubilation according to Giamatti, who says: “I am positively ecstatic about Adrien’s nomination. He is an amazing artist: collaborative, inventive and an even more amazing human being. It is such a vital relationship between actor and makeup artist. . . . Spending so much fun time with Adrien was one of my favourite experiences.. . . There is no one better at what he does.”

Giamatti should have gotten a nomination! Barney’s Version was better than 127 hours, The Way Back, Inception and is definitely worth a nomination for best actor and best picture. I was bawling at the end of the film and I could hear people sniffling and wiping their tears. This film just didn’t get the push that all the other films got. Probably cuz it’s canadian. *sigh* it’s all about politics ….
