The Most Famous Man in Brooklyn Heights/actor Paul Giamatti told Daily Show host John Stewart last night this his character in Barney’s Version is a “rapscallion“.
Stewart laughed and claimed that during the show’s warm-up he and the crew were stumped when an audience member asked them to name the 11 letter word for “oniony rogue”. The word-drop appears to be an amazing coincidence as Giamatti claimed not to have heard the pre-show banter.

A movie of Mordecai Richler’s Barney’s Version? This should always be seen in conjunction with a nosh at Mile End.
This is such a great guy!
I was intrigued by the “old jew” comment. Googled it and found on wiki:
“Giamatti has been married to Elizabeth Giamatti (née Cohen) since 1997. They have a son, Samuel Paul (born 2001), who is raised in his mother’s Jewish religion. Giamatti is an atheist.”
Now I understand…
Giamatti attended Yom Kippur Kol Nidre services at Brooklyn Heights Synagogue this past September. He was inappropriately underdressed wearing a polo and jeans – looked like a schlub.
Gosh! Does this mean that I might have used the very same “grabber” in Peas ‘n’ Pickles that Giamatti did? That I may have used the very same turnstile in the High Street subway station he used? That we both frequented the same case machine in the Montague Street Duane Reade? That….
AEB, you may not believe me, but once, some photons bounced off Paul Giamatti and hit me in the eyeballs…
AEB, given Heightser’s eyewitness report, you might have even touched his yarmulke.
