Tomorrow, Sunday, November 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m, the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange, 55 Pierrepont Street (between Henry and Hicks) will present a craft workshop for kids. Drop in anytime during those hours, and your child can make toy animals from pompoms and pinecones, with ears made of vintage fabric. Children must be accompanied, and the suggested materials donation is $5.00. From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., crafter Gloria Lanza-Bajo will demonstrate painting on silk; her handpainted scarves are for sale in the shop as well.

On Thursday, November 11, the Exchange will host a trunk sale featuring the jewelry of two Brooklyn designers, Lisa Detwiler and Marissa Alperin. (Photo and more text after the jump.)

The photo above shows the artist Bill Murphy with some of his etchings that are now on view and available for sale at the Exchange. This photo, and the one at the top of the post, were taken at the Exchange’s Holiday Preview this past Thursday evening. We will publish a schedule of forthcoming exchange holiday craft events soon.

This is a beautiful idea – by the way, I want to take this opportunity to write about my little lost gold Toucan Pin, just given to me by a dear friend for my birthday. I lost it on Tuesday, November 2, someplace along Joralemon Street, Grace Court, Hicks Street btw Joralemon and Montague Streets, Montague Street itself or the HSBC bank when stopping in there. This was a very special gift to get, and the clasp must’ve gotten loose and somehow “flown away – ” hope someone out there found it and can please return it to me…reward if found. Please contact me through the Laundromat on Columbia Place, my name is Amanda and their number is: 718-237-1157, or just write back to me in the “comments” part right here…I’d be so happy to have that little pin back again!!!
