The new bar at Armando's

Chef David Ferraro has worked at several Manhattan eateries including Montparnasse and he’ll be bringing some new menu items to Armando’s [143 Montague Street] when it reopens on Monday.

The restaurant says that Ferraro will mix “contemporary and classic” Italian cuisine such dishes as Tagliatelle with Rabbit Ragu, Goat Cheese Ravioli with pine nuts and sage, Filet Mignon with with Barolo wine and porcini mashed potatoes.   The new and improved Armando’s will also feature an extensive wine list.

Doors open at 11:30am Monday for lunch.

    I can’t wait.
Too bad the wood bar is gone, but small price to pay for soft-shell crabs next season….

The only time I went to Armando’s about three years ago it was unfortunately a “never again” experience (like those you’d see in Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ show). However, with a good dusting and a promising new head chef I’m sure there’ll be a considerable improvement. If anything, I’m very excited to see the distinctive gold tipped beige Sixpoint tap handle at the bar! (after much enlargement of the above photo).

@andy, are you crazy? Rabbit is absolutely delicious when cooked properly.
