84th Precinct Police Blotter – 9/23/09

bugleblotter-300x1711In this week’s police blotter, we have more details on last week’s hate crime at the First Unitarian Church on Monroe Place, as well as a pair of electronics thefts.

More than $3000 in audio equipment was taken during the September 13 break in at the First Unitarian Church. Police said that the door to the church’s office was broken into, and $460 was removed. Downstairs in the basement, along with racial epitaphs and a swastika was a message that read “White power, we will be back.”

A thug stole a 67-year-old woman’s iPhone as she exited the High Street subway station on September 17. As the woman left the Sands Street exit, a teenager snatched her phone and ran off through Cadman Plaza. Another thug grabbed a woman’s plastic bag that contained her iPod on the corner of Hoyt and Fulton streets on September 19.

A thief broke into a man’s car on Pineapple and Henry streets and took his airbag, valued at $1500 and causing $250 in damage.

Perps broke into Court Street apartment and removed 30 blank checks and three necklaces on September 15. The incident occurred near Congress Street.

A crook robbed a 15-year-old at knifepoint near the corner of State Street and Sidney Place on September 15. The thief approached the victim from behind and asked for the time, before displaying a gun and demanding “Give me your wallet.” The teen complied, handing over his black wallet containing his I.D., a debit card and $5.

Might it be possible to list the time the mugging- type crimes occurred? Being robbed on Sidney Place at 2:00 am is certainly scary, and the victim DOES NOT deserve it, but at least most of us are at home at that time. A mugging on Sidney Place or by the High Street A train station at 2 pm or 8 pm is of much greater concern to me and, I would wager, to most of my neighbors.

I thought the same thing. Although I doubt that 15 y.o. was out at 2 am. If he was, there is something wrong with his parents.
