    Are motorcycles in vogue?

We hear LOUD motorcycles on the BQE and throughout the New York Metro area often.

Love Chama Mama! Great georgian food. The Khachapuri is a must try although all the food is delicious. Good service. Be aware that the wine is Georgian – we found it to be more earthy than what we're used to. Still good though.

Loud bikes are one thing. These are racing. Very high revs and very loud.

  • winchell’s cavanaugh

    Super helpful, thanks so much!

  • Effective Presenter

    Yes high revs and LOUD

  • AEB

Concur on Chama Mamma–probably the Height's best restaurant, in my opinion, with Felice taking a close second place.

    Have you been to Colonie?

    Or Pips?

    Or Inga’s?

I think all three are better than anything on Montague.

The new space is a massive apartment building – and I understand his does not face the street at all.

Ah! The elevator goes down two levels to a shared by both buildings? Interesting. Though I would be really annoyed to live in the house that had the car elevator in it and have to listen to that door open and close every time my neighbor was getting their car.

Also, room for six cars seems excessive unless they are going to be renting space out to nearby neighbors… Something I doubt. I can’t imagine anyone living in the city needs two cars, let alone three.

  • AEB

I've been to Colonie, but not the other two. Colonie was good, but without any particular I'll-be-back appeal. To me. Where is Pips? I live near Inga's, probably;y the reason I've not yet tried it. You know, the law of, if the restaurant is too close, it's not like going out if you visit it, and thus you don't.

A confluence of factors has lead to a resurgence of motorbiking in the United States:
    -Direct-to-consumer sales
-viral videos, social media, and helmet cams
    -Covid-era lockdowns
-and most importantly, cheap, high-quality imported motorbikes. These aren’t your dad’s two-cylinders chugging along. They are quick and easy to repair. Just watch a YouTube video.

Until regulations or traffic enforcement catch up to them, these loud bikes are the new normal for the city’s soundscape

  • Effective Presenter

Bikers are accountants, doctors, lawyers owning a Hog has become a VERY expensive $$$ toy.

  • Effective Presenter

Thank you for explaining the resurgence of motorcycles.

Family history explains my grandfather had a top-of-the-line motorcycle way back in the 1920s they had been the fashion.

We are not certain these bikes are affordable. We suspect otherwise that it is expensive $$$ to own, insure a motorcycle. today.

Down the Shore we spend time the roar of motorcycles all over Sea Girt, Spring Lake.

Well then, pass on all 3 I suppose. Because they’re all quite “chefy”.

Pips is next door to Colonie. Same owners. Bit more of a wine bar with a slightly smaller, lighter menu.

Colonie is A+ – I’ve eaten there over 50 times in their 13 years.

Pips is an A for me. Been maybe 10 times?

Inga’s is an A-/B+. The menu is small and a lot does not appeal to me personally.

What grade would you give ol' Henry's End?

  • Banet

I ate there twice – a long time ago before they moved. Maybe 2000 and 2004? I found the menu a little stodgy and heavy for me. It was so long ago it would be irresponsible for me to grade it now.

  • Peter Scott-Thomas

Since you obviously have an interest in eating well, may I suggest a return visit? The NYT obviously employs skilled professionals to review restaurants (and plays), and in both cases, they DO revisit a place on occasion.

Given that BHts has – by anyone's count – well under 10 estabs that even aspire to "fine dining," 20 years is a long time to redline a place.

FWIW, I believe that the proprietor is a savvy person, and the menu he curates has evolved. "Heavy" doesn't characterize the 2024 version. (imho)

I went to this. Pickleball and badminton, and a dozen kids doing things to pumpkins, at the western end of Orange, not in front of Plymouth. Didn't stick around.

  • Sweeties

Is this the roar I can hear as far away as Hicks & Pineapple?

Hi! I am an interior designer living on Pineapple Street. My full time job is project manager at a company that does all residential design, but I'm interested in designing or consulting design for small neighborhood restaurants and bars. I love Brooklyn Heights and want to offer assistance to anyone who'd need it! Feel free to contact me and I can send my email, or my instagram is @annieamslerdesign

I love Ingas, Colonie and Chama Mama for nicer meals. I haven't been to Cafe Buono Gusto yet, but will try it soon. I'm happy to have another lunch/casual spot nearby.
