New proposed Congressional District map which will probably be final. We’re still in the 7th with Nydia Velázquez, The 7th district loses Sunset Park and Gowanus and gains Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, some of Bed-Stuy.

Staten Island is now with Gowanus and Park Slope, giving Malliotakis a difficult district to win.

Nadler’s 10th District goes from W 122th to the Financial District, around the shore of Red Hook, up Smith St, down Flatbush, through Prospect Park and down to Bensonhurst. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b88acc41a7e05b34750bfa53db1cf6cf6b7e197aeb6b1f13332abaa8fd4c226f.png

Our proposed NY State Senate District 23 includes northern Staten Island and Coney Island. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a57c82428560259987b15583f18303fb015c96a7319c81908e7fa6c902c664f6.png

Our proposed NY Assembly District 52 is basically the same.

Does anyone know if/when the construction fencing around the Brooklyn Bridge on Old Fulton and Washington Street will ever come down? Will that area ever be open to the public?

  • CassieVonMontague

I think they use that area for the crews doing the Brooklyn Bridge Rehab.

Hello – can someone recommend a tailor or someone in the neighborhood who can mend what appears to be moth holes in men’s wool slacks and a wool sweater?

  • Ned on Joralemon

I’ve had good luck with sweater repairs for small holes at the place on Henry at Clark street, south east corner next to the frame shop.

  • Ned on Joralemon

For the pants, I would go to French American re-weaving in midtown.

Today I saw a bunch of people checking out the stores at the corner of Henry and Cranberry, apparently scouting locations for an upcoming film.

Fortune House has an application in the window for a license to sell liquor and wine on the premises. I thought they were already allowed tro do that. Maybe because of new owner?

Has anyone noticed how bare the food and candy shelves are at the CVS on Henry Street? Some items out of stock at the former Peas ‘N’ Pickles on Henry, too.

I’ve noticed a lot of things aren’t as available as they used to be. One food I buy regularly, I had to go to three different places to find—and then bought three, making me eligible for an official “Hoarder” badge (and no, not saying what it is!).

ugh…I’m curious if anyone has recommendations on exterminator to help get rid of what appears to be a moth problem (without ever seeing any actual moths!)

  • skb

Thank you CassieVonMontague for posting this! I’d be curious if you have a take on these Congressional District changes…including the disconnect with our unchanged Assembly district.

Here’s a list of “the 11 best restaurants in Brooklyn Heights for 2022,” starting with Vineapple, it says here:

Are there even 11 restaurants in BH?

  • kizz

There are 15 just between Henry/Middagh and Henry/Clark. That doesn’t include Inga’s which is opening shortly one block off of Henry on Hicks/Cranberry.

  • Effective Presenter

    Has assemblyman Nick Perry retired?

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

Really? I’d like to see a list. Please don’t include: Delis bakeries/coffee shops, pizzerias or anything in Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is not Brooklyn Heights. We’re talking proper Restaurants.
Besides It was a joke anyway…

  • Ned on Joralemon

Not sure, I imagine any exterminator can handle it. I’ve found that it is always best to wash sweaters before storing them for the season (I’ve had most moth damage in the summer). It’s also good to invest in a clothes brush and use that on tailored clothing after each wear. This process breaks the moth eggs so they can’t hatch.

    Restaurants with waitstaff:

    Noodle Pudding
    Mint Heights
    Brooklyn Heights Wine Bar
    Bevacco
    Henry Street Ale House
    Henry’s End
    Kogane
    Fortune House
    Vineapple Cafe
    Sushi Gallery
    Ozu Japanese
    Clark’s
    Iron Chef House

    +Inga’s coming soon…

  • kizz

Brooklyn Heights has lots of options to dine. Yes, there most definitely could be more. Also, yes, I do think a majority of the restaurants/bars are quite boring if that was what you were implying. Many are uninteresting and forgetful, in my opinion.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

Yeah it was humor, poking fun at the general mediocrity of the restaurant population in the Heights.
But thanks for compiling the list. Most of those places are very forgettable…

  • skb

Thank you, Ned on Joralemon! Have a great weekend, a good one for sweaters!

  • Andrew Porter

I keep meaning to post this, but then I forget:

The BHA says that the Clark Street #2/3 subway station will be open by the end of April, but a few days ago, talking to one of the workers taking a smoke break outside, I was told the actual reopening date is likely June…

President Biden nominated Assemblyman Perry to be Ambassador to Jamaica. The Senate has not yet confirmed his appointment.

  • Andrew Porter

Then how do you know you have/haven’t eaten at them?
