The Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street (corner of Clinton) has two events scheduled for this weekend. On Friday evening, March 18, starting at 6:00, conservator Robert Derow will lecture on the restoration of the 250 year old Ratzer Map that was discovered in the Society’s stored collections, and will be on display at BHS through May 1. In addition, BHS staff member Carolyn Hansen will talk about the map’s historical significance and place in the society’s collection. Tickets are $10 for BHS members and $20 for non-members, and may be purchased here.
On Saturday, March 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., BHS will present another of its popular classes on researching the history of your house.
Discover the amazing history of your Brooklyn house using BHS’ images, records and documents. Attendees will be introduced to library collections used in house and building research and will learn to piece together the social history of a Brooklyn home or block.
The cost is $30 for BHS members and $50 for non-members. Advance ticket purchase is recommended and may be done here.
