Emergency Pothole Repair to Close Manhattan Bound Brooklyn Bridge Today Through Saturday

Due to the effects of continuing winter storms on the Brooklyn Bridge roadways, emergency resurfacing work begins this week. 11 PM-6AM Wed & Thurs, and 12AM to 6PM Sat, all Manhattan-bound traffic will be detoured to other crossings. The contraflow operation will be in effect, and all Brooklyn-bound traffic will travel on the north roadway. In two locations on the FDR Drive and the BQE, the closures will begin 30-60 min earlier to allow work crews to set up. …

In the event of inclement weather, work may continue on Sunday.

    I am glad that the DOT is tackling this problem, but folks should know that the traffic diversions are actually occurring earlier than outlined. It was approximately 10:30, Wednesday evening, and the northbound exit to the Brooklyn Bridge off of the FDR was already closed.
