Unifair! This Saturday

Nothing un-fair about it at all. The First Unitarian Church, at Pierrepont Street and Monroe Place, which among other things nurtured the career of Alfred T. White, will have its annual Unifair! this Saturday, December 4, from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Items on sale include gently used clothing, housewares, furniture, artwork, games and toys. If you have items in these categories you would like to donate to the fair (no t-shirts, intimate apparel or stuffed animals, please), you may bring them to the church before the fair. Please call the church office, 718-624-5466, for more information.

Thanks to AAR for the tip.

I must admit that quite a lot of things which would in previous years have been donated to this sale are nowadays ending up at the Housing Works Thrift Store on Montague. Not only do they give a tax deduction for contributions, but the store is a Net Exporter of material to other stores in the chain.

First U does not make it easy to donate. However, receipts for tax purposes ARE available from the office if one is persistent. Very persistent.

On the subject of donations, has anybody else in the nabe received mailings on behalf of Vietnam vets that include clothing donation bags with instructions to leave them outside for sidewalk pick-up?

    Nabeguy: yes.
