Montague Street has been getting its share of attention lately, from the new Montague Diner to a forthcoming large new building. As reported by Mary Frost in The Eagle (click on the link for her story and photos by Marc A. Hermann) on Saturday afternoon there were two explosions on Montague between Henry and Hicks streets, after which “thick smoke began pouring out of two manholes ….” No one was injured, and the only damage was a cracked pane of glass in a window at 118 Montague, “likely broken from the concussion of the manhole explosions.”
