We wish Ilse Korey well for years I. Korey did her best to run the EAC as the years went by and the equipment broke down I. Korey handled situations with class and professionalism.

We will NOT miss the crummy EAC pool.

As a contributor to the blog I feel VERY comfortable telling you this post is racist and discriminatory. It is anathema to me personally and and runs counter to the spirit in which the blog was founded and how we continue to publish it in honor of it’s founder, John Loscalzo.

If I had the ability to delete your comment, I would. But as it stands, I will ask the admins to take it down.
Your language is not acceptable on this forum. You are free to choose not to patronize the tailor any longer based on your experience. But you may not publicly disparage him here as an individual or business owner based on his ethnicity or race because of one unfortunate misunderstanding. Check your privilege.

  • Knight

I will give you that technicality! But my bottom line was to offer respect to the Sferrazza family for operating in the location so many years.

  • Knight

I disagree with asking the admins to take down this or any other post. Haters should be exposed and challenged.

  • Knight

I agree, but the poster asked how his statements were libelous and I answered.

  • SongBirdNYC

The Admins were of the same mind and I see the point. Now whether AEG will see the point is another matter.

What a typical Sheeple-Liberal response ‘Freedom of speech only as long as it conforms to our ideology’ SMH

  • AEB

Of course they are opinions. Do we have to discuss what constitutes a fact? We’ll be at that for some time. Yes, it is m,y opinion that he runs his business poorly–based on his actions.

  • AEB

Please don’t condescend to me. Yes, as I stated above, all are my opinions. Trust them or not. I believe he doesn’t run his business well. He happens NOT to speak English well–that is a fact–and it is my opinion that this is detrimental to his ability to conduct his business.

You have decided that to criticize him, an Asian male, is to libel an entire community. Please try to think more clearly.

  • AEB

I see that you’ve concluded that my mentioning that an Asian man speaks English poorly (and that this effects his ability to do business efficiently) defames an entire group–and puts that group in danger. This sort of smug, self-righteous PC-overkill is itself an example of intolerance.

  • SongBirdNYC

Oh I am thinking clearly. And like a lot of people who clutch their pearls when their biases are pointed out, you are choosing to be defensive.

So, I’m gonna go with my original point and the gut reactions of the other people on this blog who have tried to point out your Xenophobia. I maintain you need to check your priviledge and educate yourself, think about how you describe people who are “other” than you. The tailor’s track record in this neighborhood is NOT in line with your asessment of him. So, go somewhere else and keep your opinions to yourself unless you can separate out someone’s ethincity and ability to speak English from their ability to hem a pair of your precious pants.

  • AEB

If you could stop foaming for a moment–where do you get the idea that I disparage the store owner “based on his ethnicity or race?” In my original post, I mention that he’s Asian (which he is) to identify whom I’m speaking about. You have made a leap, concluding that my dissatisfaction with his treatment of at least one customer, me, is due to his being Asian. That his English is poor isn’t a function of his being Asian–his English is poor, and would still be whatever his ethnicity. If he were Latvian and I mentioned his nationality, would you jump up and call “prejudice?”Can we no longer identify people by their obvious or not so obvious cultural/ethnic or physical traits? If you think we can’t, why not contact and complain to the police, who regularly mention race when describing a potential criminal?

Gimme a break about the libelous language. I suggest you tone it down. One needs to speak a decent amount of English if you want to conduct business.

  • Mike

Are you saying his assessment is not valid? Everyone has there own assessment and that decides if they will provide future business to the tailor. Enough with the privilege nonsense. The self righteous opinions are out of control.

  • Mike

When you can’t speak English it is very relevant.

  • Appelbomb

Does it, Mike? Did qualifying his race do anything important in illustrating that he doesn’t speak English well? I guess we’re built differently – personally, I don’t have to call you a mouth-breathing cretin because your comment already illustrates that perfectly. Clown.

Do you happen to when they took down the arches(?) on the promenade fence? Or at some point did they replace the fence completely?
