Magic Mike at Books Are Magic! Channing Tatum Delights PS8 Kindergartners (and Their Moms) With Surprise Book Reading on Montague Street

This afternoon, the kindergartners at PS 8 went on a field trip to Books Are Magic on Montague St. for a surprise book reading by Channing Tatum of his new children’s book The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie. The kids and Channing also worked on an art mural project led by Piera Bonerba of Le Meraviglie Art.

Carol Capece, one of the lucky moms who was at the reading, told BHB over text:

Sparkella was adorable – a great story about the importance of being honest, and the power of forgiveness. Channing told the kids that he gets nervous reading out loud, but gave a sweet performance and even got a few laughs from these kindergarteners. My son, Leo, did not know who he was until the night before when I said he was a famous actor. That was very exciting for him even though he’s a little young for Magic Mike. ;-)

Montague BID posted on Instagram and thanked the merchants on Montague St. for helping this weekday event happen safely, with a special shout out to James Weir Floral Co. for providing the greenery for the event.

Not for nothing–the guy was adorable with the kids and did a great job reading the story and engaging with them.
