This Wednesday evening, May 31, the Repast Baroque Ensemble will return to Brooklyn Heghts to present “Music for a While: a Composer Portrait of Henry Purcell” (the June 1 performance is in Manhattan).
[T]his program portrays the “divine genius” of Henry Purcell. Although he only lived to age 36, Purcell’s creative output was breathtaking. Repast gives audiences a sense of Purcell’s unique style with songs, fantasies, keyboard works, and the famous Chaconne.
This performance will feature Repast members Natalie Kress (violin), Sarah Stone (viola da gamba), and Gabe Shuford (harpsichord), with guests Sonya Headlam (soprano), Carmen Johnson-Pajaro (violn), and Maureen Murchie (viola).
The concert will take place in the McKinney Chapel of the First Unitarian Church, 121 Pierrepont Street (between Monroe Place and Clinton Street) starting at 7:30 PM. You may purchase tickets on line here or pay by cash, check, or card at the door.
