News from the BHA: Dog Park Cleanup Tomorrow; Fellowships for College Students; and Vote for Annual Meeting Theme

The Brooklyn Heights Association has notified us of three items for quick consideration. First, the Hillside Dog Park will have its annual winter cleanup tomorrow — Saturday, January 21 — from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, involving “Mulch spreading, New Shed Construction and General Cleanup.” All are invited.

College freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are invited to apply for “Hope for Brooklyn Fellowships” from the Hope Reichbach Fund. “[F]ellows are placed at Brooklyn non-profits where they do community organizing or public service, based on their interests. Fellowships offer paid experience and leadership opportunities within a supportive community.” The fellowships last ten weeks and pay a stipend of $525 a week, before taxes. Those interested may apply through the document linked above; the application deadline is February 21st.

The BHA’s Annual Meeting will be March 8 (we’ll give you a reminder and more info later). Two themes are being considered for the meeting: “NYC’s Housing Affordability Crisis” or “Rethinking the Public Realm”. You may vote for one of the two, suggest another theme, suggest a speaker, and find more info here. The deadline for voting is this Sunday, January 22.
