Congressional Candidates On Line Debate Monday

The redrawing of congressional districts means that Brooklyn Heights is no longer in the Seventh District, represented by The Hon. Nydia Velazquez. We are in a new Tenth District, for which there is no incumbent. Seventeen candidates are vying for the Democratic nomination in the primary election to be held on August 23. Among them are Jo Anne Simon, who now represents the Heights and nearby neighborhoods in the State Assembly and Elizabeth Holtzman, who served in Congress from Brooklyn for four terms in the 1970s and later served as Kings County District Attorney and New York City Comptroller.

On Monday evening, August 1 starting at 7:00 Schneps Media and PoliticsNY will host an on line debate among nine of the candidates, including Ms. Simon and Ms. Holtzman. You can register here to get a link for the debate.

There was a NYT article about two women vying for the position who, frankly, I’d never heard of.

I’d be inclined to vote for Jo Anne Simon, myself.

I’ve been amassing a growing pile of campaign literature that comes in the mail.
