Subway Service Alerts – Brooklyn Heights and Nearby

Subway ridership is back to almost half of pre-pandemic levels, so it seems time to revive this weekly post. Its purpose is to alert local residents to planned subway service changes that directly affect service at stations in the Heights or nearby. For systemwide service changes, and for the almost inevitable unplanned changes that may cause last minute disruptions, see New MTA Info.

This coming weekend – Friday evening, September 17 to Monday morning, September 20 – the only planned service change directly affecting local stations is that there will be no 3 train service in either direction at Borough Hall or at Clark Street. 2 train service should be running normally.

There are no planned service changes directly affecting service at local stations the following work week – Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24.

Subway ridership isn’t anywhere close to pre-pandemic levels yet. Barely 50%, actually. https://gothamist.com/news/mta-breaking-pandemic-era-ridership-records-only-half-riders-are-back

I periodically travel in Manhattan on weekends by subway and I appreciate having this helpful weekly guide to service changes affecting our neighborhood. Thank you.

I thought I had seen that ridership was above pre-pandemic level, and should have checked more carefully. I’ve revised the post accordingly.
