Brooklyn Americana Music Festival: When bands have names like The Wild Goats, Bobtown, and The Dang-It Bobbys you KNOW you’re in for an authentic, foot-stompin’ good time. BKAMF features over forty FREE performances and three (inexpensively) ticketed fund-raising shows. Venues include Sunny’s Bar (Red Hook), Jalopy Theater, DUMBO Archway, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Superfine & 68 Jay Street. Saturday, September 18th:
Photoville Festival Opening Day: While there won’t be shipping containers this year, the festival celebrates the opening of its 10th season with a FREE community celebration in Brooklyn Bridge Park. There will be exhibits from talented visual storytellers, Smorgasburg pop-up, workshops, and more. The festival has mounted exhibits in all five boroughs and runs through December,1st. All are free and open to the public.

10th Annual Rite of Summer Music Festival: Orchestral ensemble, Alarm Will Sound will perform the NYC premiere of John Luther Adams’ Ten Thousand Birds, based on the songs of birds that are native to, or migrate through the American northeast and midwest.
WHERE: Governor’s Island, Nolan Park-Lawn
TIME: 1:00 pm and 3:oo pm.
