As the tweet states, their issue is police committing disproportionate violence against peaceful protesters.

As a thought experiment, imagine if someone was caught driving over the speed limit. This is also illegal and anyone who chooses to speed is obligated to understand that. But if police respond by committing violence against them, that’s a disproportionate and immoral response to the violation.

For the protests, the police have an obligation to extend extra sensitivity because these protests are reacting to unjustified police murder and many followup incidents of police gassing, beating, shooting, and shoving peaceful protesters, reporters, and many others, which we thankfully have many clear videos of to alleviate any doubt that this violence occurred.

I hope this helps clear up your confusion. I understand there’s a lot to make sense of and appreciate your willingness to acknowledge you’re still trying to understand how it all ties together.
