Squibb Bridge to Re-Open Monday, May 4

According to Caroline Spivack in Curbed  the pedestrian bridge linking Squibb Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park (and presumably Squibb Park itself, which provides access and egress) will re-open this coming Monday, May 4. Early this month your correspondent noted that the bridge’s restoration appeared to be nearly complete, but speculated that the suspension of non-essential construction would freeze further work until the COVID-19 crisis passed. Evidently, the bridge was considered essential.

Great news. More interested in having the park open
    than the Bridge.
Never understood why they had to close that
under utilized park in 2019 when construction was never
being done there until late in April.
That bridge is narrow, should be interesting to see how
    they will accommodate pedestrian access.

I wondered how the “social distancing” will work too. If people are heading in opposite directions on the bridge, it’s inevitable they’ll come within six feet of each other. Of course, it’s likely to be a very brief encounter – just hope no one is coughing or breathing heavily as they pass.
