Now through March 18, the Heights Players present Hugh Leonard's Da

A successful playwright returns home to see both his foster father and his own past buried. However, the exasperating Da refuses to stay dead and floods the room with ghosts. Winner of the Tony, NY Drama Crtics' Circle and the Drama Desk Awards.

The Brooklyn Heights Courier writes:

Brooklyn Heights veteran Lois Look plays the Mother and director Ted Thompson has surrounded her with newcomers to the Heights Players boards. Playing Charlie is Bill Barry while Charlie at a younger age is played by Goran Ivanovski. Jamie Orenstein plays Oliver, Charlie’s best friend while Michael Donaldson plays Drumm, his employer.

Heights resident Jessica Morris plays a gentry woman while Brenda Cooney plays a young woman from the opposite end of the social spectrum. All of these surround the title character, Da played by Joseph Mohbat.

“Da” will be presented Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., March 9, 10 and 16 with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., March 11 and 18. Tickets are $15; $13 for children and seniors; TDF vouchers are accepted. For more, call 718-237-2752 or visit www.heightsplayers.org.

Old enough to remember the orig. production on Bdwy. so went to see it at the Heights Players over the weekend. Excellent. First rate acting and well directed. Never sinks to trite choices and what makes it work is how obvious it is that Charlie loved his Da, even though he is denying it until the end. Will make some people laugh and some people cry, but will affect you in some way.
