More briefly than I ever am – found the 2016 report. It doesn’t just lambaste any tunnel idea – it vaporizes it – cost, disruption, threats to the Brooklyn Bridge’s stability … and more.

Oh yeah, reviving that one – vs. BBP dog walkers complaining – is the “easier sell!” ‘Fraid not.

I think for the most part we can agree that a tunnel, if it could be constructed under ideal circumstances, would be great for Brooklyn Heights. I’ve heard little mention (here—I’m not doing much outside reading) of how long it would take to dig though. To bore from Clinton Hill to Gowanus (where the BQE bends east-west and north-south, respectively), wouldn’t that take like two years even if everything goes smoothly? And what happens during construction?

Thus has been empty for sooo long. A long time ago, it was the home of Beastly Bites, which then moved to Court Street just south of Atlantic.

“Brooklyn Bridge’s stability”??? You don’t have a clue as to what you are talking about. The proposed tunnel, deemed feasible by the City and State DOTs report, would go from Williamsburg, from approximately Kent Ave/BQE to Sunset Park around 21st street/BQE. It would bypass the entire waterfront route. It wouldn’t go any where near the Bridge. The existing highways would only be feeders for the Bridges, The cantilever and the pit could possibly be eliminated or at least have a fraction the current traffic.
You obviously haven’t done your homework.

I lived in the Heights in the early 70s. First Mexican meal of my life was on Montague Street around Henry iirc, maybe down a couple of steps. Probably the place this discussion is about.

Quality was TV dinner-like. I then started buying canned Mexican food at Bohack Market which was at Love Lane and Henry. They carried a few items.
