Heartfelt and belated condolences to Rob at 137 Henry. Walking home tonight I saw this sign and candle and realized Lola and I had regularly exchanged hellos through that window. I used to look forward to seeing her inquisitive, friendly face as I’d pass by. I was very moved by this memorial.

So very sorry to hear this. Signs like the one posted not only note a sad passing, but help to bring people and their neighborhood–our neighborhood, in this case–together.

Very sad news, indeed. Heartfelt condolences from all of us at BHB.

13 Pineapple Street is still on the market a year later, price reduced from $10.5 million to $8.4.

    146 Pierrepont has topped out.

BHA will not appeal ruling allowing Pier 6 buidings

I think someone should sue them for mispronouncing “quay.”

  • Still Here

I guess this was a case of quibbling to the quay:)

Participatory voting: I looked at the choices and it seems almost all are way over priced. Five laptop carts for $300.000?

A little late, here’s Brownstoner’s write-up on the filming of Motherless Brooklyn on Henry Street, with really excellent photos:

Note how the photo of 13 Pineapple there has been photoshopped to eliminate the enormous JW former dormitory building behind it.

I’m so annoyed. Dock Street School was opened in 2016. It was built to the highest possible standards with bells and whistles other schools can’t dream of (ie, a recording studio). There is nothing in the school that is more than 2 years old.

They have only 300 students in that school. And now they need 300,000 for laptop carts? That’s a thousand dollars per kid. Who already have the very best of our tax dollars.

    How dare they.

My kids attend a school that is not new, but has more parental involvement and extra PTA dollars than many. When we think about possibly putting forward a project in this process (air conditioning would be nice), we realize how many, many kids have far less. And we usually throw our support to a local housing project looking to refurbish a community room or asking for working lights in the halls.

This is money grabbing. Shame on Dock Street parents and administrators.

The most expensive laptop cart I found on-line was less than $2,500. I just send an email to Benjamin Solotaire at councilman Levi’s office. I asked Mr. Solotaire to clarify how these estimates are validated,

Williamsburg’s Whisk is opening in the Cook’s Companion space

I could not be more pleased. Their store in Williamsburg is great.

  • CassieVonMontague

    lol. good eye

This is good news! I’m so happy to hear that another cookware store is taking Cook’s Companion’s place.

I’m sure they mean laptop carts full of laptops. According to Inside Schools, enrollment is 137 kids. Using education pricing, $300,000 = every single student would get TWO Macbook Airs plus plenty more for new arrivals.

All to replace a school full of 2016 laptops. Disgusting.

The preK at Dock Street just received 160k for STEM equipment from Borough Prez Adams. Another completely new facility.

On Brownstoner, there’s an article, “Public Rips Proposed Changes to Landmarks Rules in Contentious Public Hearing Tuesday,” which includes several photos of work going on in the Heights:

AWESOME NEWS! Thanks for sharing. But the question is…will they sharpen knives???

Any leads on a 3 bedroom apartment in the neighborhood (rental). Been scouring the usual websites/broker listings, but it never hurts to ask our neighbors too. We need more space, and are loathe to leave the Heights. Thank you.

Very sad news; our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I think if enough of us ask for it they’ll add the service.

Wow, i just searched for 3-beds on Streeteasy. One on Atlantic for $6,500. The rest are $11k+. Crazy.

  • Roberto

Enjoyable response, but it needs a slight correction: “sera,” not serra.

    Goodspeed Lola, WOOF.

Hello Neighbors – I am asking again for your help. I am looking for a place that will attach snaps to clothing. Specifically, I have a Pendleton jacket that one of the snaps came off. After a lengthy correspondence and wait, Pendleton sent me a pair of snaps and suggested I go to “any” dry cleaner with a tailor. I have been to every dry cleaner/tailor in Brooklyn Heights. None of them have the tool to do this. Can you recommend a place (any place in the city will be fine)? Much. much appreciated!!
And do you know where I can find the Washington Post or Wall Stteet Journal? (I enjoy a variety of newspapers.)
