Free Friday at Brooklyn Historical Society Celebrates Bourbon

This Friday, September 15, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, the Brooklyn Historical Society as part of its “Free Fridays” series, will present an evening dedicated to Bourbon — the whiskey, that is, though it will also include a talk about the French royals who gave it the name. Bourbon isn’t just from Kentucky. Some very good ones, as your correspondent can attest, are made right here in Brooklyn. The evening’s festivities will conclude with a tasting presented by one of our local producers, Kings County Distillery. Here’s a schedule for the evening.

On Monday evening, September 18, starting at 6:30, BHS will present A Mic for Every Voice: The Podcast Revolution. Podcast producer and “close personal friend of Beyoncé” Eleanor Kagan will moderate a panel of distinguished media experts and participants in a discussion of “one of the most democratic forms of media today” and consider the question: “[C]an [podcasts’] accessibility lead to a greater diversity in public voices?” Admission is $10, or $5 for BHS members. There’s more information and reserve tickets here.
