    Every time it rains there’s a fairly large street puddle that doesn’t drain by the foot of the driveway/sidewalk near 96 Joralemon (South side between Henry/Garden). Not sure what number it is exactly, (maybe it’s technically Henry?) In any event, who can remedy this – the city? the owner?

    Speaking of puddles … how about under the benches on the Promenade? The water stays for a couple of days after a heavy rain. There is also a pretty good sized ” lake ” in BBP near the pop up pool.

    Has anyone heard of any new restaurants coming to the area? It would be nice to have a few new options in the neighborhood.

    The whole Promenade should be repaved and leveled – a lot of the stones are broken or missing and yes, the ponding has gotten worse by the benches. My sense is the Parks Dept. has been redirecting a lot of resources to parks in poor/underserved neighborhoods of late (and for good reason) so the Heights probably falls down the pecking order.

    The entire Promenade was repaved, with new asphalt blocks and slate, several years ago. The big problem is that the drains are clogged with earth, leaves and other matter.

    I used to walk around with a pole, sticking it into the little round holes in the rectangular drains and opening them up, but I haven’t done that in years. You’d think Parks would have a program to maintain the pavers and drains, but I guess not.

    I know that BBP “lake”—it’s where the earth movers are parked. Eventually it’ll be developed. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a major mosquito breeding area.

    Time to make the doughnuts. Uh, time for another old BH postcard. Here’s the old Hicks Residence on Hicks Street, supposedly one of the landmarks of the Heights. Why do I think it was torn down a long time ago?

    It was more than “several” years ago. It was more than 8 years, but I think less than 14. So somewhere between 2003 and 2008.

    Anybody remember the name of a restaurant that used to be on Montague Street (I think in the 1990s) that baked a kind of flatbread and then made wraps out of them? It had a bread oven behind a long counter where people would pick up their food. It had other locations in Manhattan, too. My memory is that it occupied the space where Starbucks used to be, which has now remained empty for several years.

    I think you mean “Cosi” it was a couple of doors east of Starbucks, where the mattress store is now. The place wasn’t very good and quite pricey, which no doubt lead to its early demise…

    Well, whenever it was last repaved, it needs it again. For such a signature attraction, it’s not in the best of shape.

    Thanks, that’s the one. I agree it wasn’t very good, which was odd because one in Manhattan where I’d get lunch was much better. They had tandoori chicken which I thought was quite good in the fresh-baked flatbread. But when I tried it at the Montague Street location, the chicken seemed of inferior quality, and after a couple of equally disappointing visits, I stopped going.
