Great picture Claude. This area of the park is really shaping up, literally.

I wonder how they got the grass so green on that thing, in early December no less? There must be some industrial-strength fertilizer at work.

  • Andrew Porter

They sprayed a grass-seed/fertilizer mix on the slopes. Industrial planting at its finest!

What’s the new building at the extreme left going to be?

  • Jorale-man

I think it’s a maintenance shed. There’s also a building going up in the front, which is supposedly a boathouse. They recently published a blog post about this: http://www.brooklynbridgepark.org/blog/park-updates/construction-update-pier-5-facilities-and-landscape

  • Banet

    They only use organic fertilizers.

The new building will be a maintenance shed for the park workers. A place to store their golf carts and electric cars, a place to charge them, a place to keep all of their tools, etc. Why they couldn’t read some of the space in the bottom of One Brooklyn Bridge that is set up to for the last decade is beyond me though.

Any idea when the construction on Cranberry/Henry will end?!

Applying the 3-strikes -yer-out rule to our long-time Chinese take-out preference. Perhaps a new owner or new chef has resulted in quality downgrade. Would appreciate any recommendations.

This package thief hit our building within the last hour. Near the corner of Henry and Pierrepont. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e308e40587dcc816ddfd8d06e651b8bc5f90f53857676e6093e44f45437d47d4.jpg

  • CHASESGILBERT

    Ugh. So aggravating.

Progress on the health care front announced today—New York-Presbyterian is now the “active parent” company as it joins with New York Methodist.

Urge the members of the Electoral College not to vote for Donald Trump!

    This awesome site provides a way for you to do it;

Probably because we had an early spring then a frost, it screws up the cycle of the trees. None of my fruit trees upstate produced any fruit either.
No doubt result of climate change, at least the lack of stinky Gingko berries is a positive fallout.

Thanks for the heads up, I’d love the catch that F@#K’n lowlife.

  • Andrew Porter

I noticed that too. Doesn’t make up for the stinky election results, but I’ll take what I can get.

  • Marlena Cooper

Are the tour busses parking and letting tourist off at the end of Montague allowed to do this?

You know how my phone gets when it drinks…

My packages have been stolen from this guy as well – Middagh street btw Henry and Hicks. Should I contact the police? Or does it not matter?

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com/ Claude Scales

That will be the Park’s maintenance building.

  • BGN24

Yes! The more people report the more likely we are to have patrols during the day.

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com/ Claude Scales

    That makes you awesome.

  • Remsen Street Dweller

Awww – I love that, thank you!

  • Reggie

Did you decide it was irrelevant or did you not know that this aid was developed by a local guy, a former president of the Cobble Hill Association and member of Community Board 6 (among other affiliations)?

  • Remsen Street Dweller

Puh – lease — I never said I designed the site. If you click on the link, his name is right there. I said it was an awesome site — not that I wrote it. What’s your problem, anyway?

  • Andrew Porter

They’re shameless. They’ll do whatever they can get away with.

  • Cranberry Beret

Yep noticed it too. Searched the internet hive mind and came up empty. Have to say, walking on Hicks near Pierrepont has been much more pleasant this year.

  • Jorale-man

The tour guides with the loudspeakers are the ones that get me. I’m happy that visitors are taking an interest in our neighborhood, and not just spending their time around Times Square, but the tour companies could be more respectful at times.

On a related note, we haven’t heard of any park crime/shenanigans lately. The colder weather, I guess.
