Goats on Brooklyn Bridge Park Berm

The Brooklyn Paper reports that Brooklyn Bridge Park has brought four Nubian goats, like those in the photo, to trim the weeds that have flourished on the sound deflecting berm below the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, giving us something new to view. They are four brothers–Horatio, Eyebrows, Minnie, and Hector–who have been trained as weed eaters at an upstate farm, and will return there after two months. Some of their cousins are now on assignment in Prospect Park.

I love these goats! Great watching them work and hang out together from the promenade every morning. Cool names, too!
    Thanks, Claude.

Very cool – I’ve never been a big fan of the berm but it’s nice they’re giving animals a place to graze while taking care of the yard work.

What hours do they work? I Wonder if they have labor laws for weed-eaters?! I’d love to bring my grand daughter to see them.

    Where do they poop?

  • AbeLincoln

    On Joralemon.

As the Brooklyn Paper story points out, fertilizing the berm is another service they provide.

    That is hilarious.

The NYPD had to shut down the berm today after reports on goatal media of planned hoofticuffs.

Dear God Almighty…. Please take care of these poor animals. It is known that Heights orgs are LACK regarding anything in terms of animals. Someone KEEP WATCH!

    I have a b-a-a-a-a-d feeling about this!

According to a local source “C.R.”: The goats cost the BBP $3Million each, they also require constant care from a dedicated zoologist, veterinarian and handlers. All of which amount to enormous upkeep expenses. A park official stated “The scapegoats are a clear example why we need more revenue from condos in the park”…

Someone should put Regina Myers out to pasture with the goats.

    You’re joking, right?
