    It’s a Heights Cake! Yum.

It is 2 pm and only 3 comments so far! Where is everybody? I used to love coming in here and reading the comments…

I still can’t believe the size and beauty of this building. It looks like a truly great structure and one that wouldn’t be built today. I’m really curious as to how many condos they will get out of this, and what they’re going to do with that beautiful top couple floors with the turrets.

Well let’s get the ball rolling! What exactly is Food Art for Kids? Sounds interesting, and potentially delicious.

  • FoodArtforKids.com

Food Art for Kids is a hands on cooking summer camp for kids ages 5 to 11. I run it out of the First Unitarian church right here on Pierrepont St.
Yes – we make delicious things!

Not BHB relevant but Fairway filed for bankruptcy…

  • HereToStay

That sounds like a great idea. What does it cost?

  • Karl Junkersfeld

No effect on store in Red Hook. So they say.

  • Eddyde

Awesome shot AEB, did you take it? Must have had one hell of a selfie stick, LOL.

Brings back memories of The Towers Hotel. Back in the day, before the Jo-Ho’s bought it, we neighborhood kids used to sneak up the the roof and hang out in the “towers”. Lots of fun times up there…

All the info is on the website: http://www.foodartforkids.com
There are different rates: weekly / daily.

I heard it was a Chapter 11, which shouldn’t affect retail behavior. But then again I’m an artist so my knowledge of business financial regulation is basically zero.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Sorry, all my great photos from last week are of my kid. If you want to see those we have to have brunch first.

I’m tempted to go into the Verizon store. You know, just for a goof :)

  • FoodArtforKids.com

I noticed a few changes that happened over the last few weeks: items are being discontinued, reduced staff, shifting departments around. I enjoy shopping there and I hope they stay.

  • HereToStay

LOL. That said, I have seen some people cross — it’s not pretty. I do have to say that I applaud Verizon for sticking it out… “We” cant afford what the unions force on us… Besides, and I know most will not agree, these folks are NOT coal miners and HAVE been offered an amazingly generous contract. Get back to work or step aside…

  • AEB

I didn’t take it, Eddyde–though you should see my selfie stick. A fortuitous find.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

    I think that’s right.

Followed by massive and raucous visitor dispersal up Joralemon, with a police escort of five vehicles.

Hey, did anyone else hear the very loud PA on Tuesday morning around 5:00 am? Someone doing a mike check that echoed all through CH and up Clark and other streets. Just wondering what was going on.

  • StudioBrooklyn

I feel terrible for the vast majority of the people who were made to vacate the pier, who I observed wearing athletic gear and bouncing basketballs down Furman. Not only was their evening of peaceful recreation ruined by a few selfish and maladjusted individuals, those individuals are also making it difficult for others who vaguely resemble them to overcome the overwhelming obstacles of stereotyping by police and members of communities such as ours.

  • StudioBrooklyn

    Yep, I heard it too.

  • StudioBrooklyn

I can’t help but wonder whose view it might have blocked.

  • gc

I believe they were setting up for a graduation ceremony at Pier 2. Did seem awfully early for such a racket!

  • Heightsman

Hang on….they will stay…nothing material will change. I was just pointing out that they expanded too quickly beyond NYC and assumed some debt. I was in Whole Foods last night in the suburbs and it’s the same (quiet). WF will be taken private soon too. PE will move on them.

  • Concerned

Yeah, it sucks for them and it sucks for us. Who wants to let their families go down to the park for that same reason. And then we have to worry about the troublemakers coming back through Brooklyn Heights. How long will it take for you to change your mind about the pier 2 b-ball courts, SB??? Have any other piers been closed by police? Has anyone else been shot at on any other piers (in the last 10 years…)? This is really ridiculous and something needs to be done about it. Keep two basketball courts and then make the rest of the space something different. Problem solved! But that would be too easy…. let’s just keep it the way it is so no one’s feelings get hurt and we can all live in fear of going down to the park and we can use a ton of money and man-power clearing the courts every week or so. Absolutely ridiculous!

  • StudioBrooklyn

Did you see my response to you on “Threats Close Pier 2″? This isn’t about basketball.
