The Eighth Annual Brooklyn Folk Festival, sponsored by Jalopy Theatre and Down Home Radio Show, will take place at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Church, Clinton and Montague streets (except for the world famous banjo toss contest–see photo–which is held on the banks of the beautiful Gowanus Canal) starting Friday evening, April 8 and continuing through Sunday evening, April 10. The festival includes performances by folk groups and musicians representing many diverse traditions, as well as workshops and activities, including that banjo toss. There’s a a complete schedule here. A pass for the entire festival costs $85; single day passes and single concert tickets are available for less, children under five are free; you may purchase passes and tickets here.
Your correspondent attended last year’s festival and enjoyed it enormously, even though his banjo toss fell short of the winning mark, and the stage lights turned some of his photos blue.
