Mayor Says Keep Warm This Weekend.

That’s right. According to our friends at Carroll Gardens Patch, Mayor de Blasio has warned of “life-threatening wind chills” this Valentine’s Day weekend. All the more reason to stay inside and–uh–snuggle!

Take heart–as it were–though. The map at the linked story shows us as only getting “Wind Chill Advisory”, meaning “values will be as low as 20 to 25 below zero”. Whew! That’s practically balmy, compared to our neighbors to the north in the Catskills and Connecticut, some of whom will be getting “values…as low as 25 to 30 below zero”.

On a serious note, we hope the city is doing a good job of getting people who sleep on the streets to warm shelters now.

I’ve looked out my window several times over the past day and the street below has been deserted every time. It’s rare to see the Heights this quiet but if you don’t have to go outside – don’t!

It’s nice that DeBlahsio has people’s best interests at heart for a change
