Jehovah’s Witnesses Put Up Three More Buildings For Sale

The Real Deal is reporting that the Jehovah’s Witnesses have three more of their local properties on the market, including their flagship building at 25-30 Columbia Heights.

The properties being marketed are a 135,000-square-foot development site at 85 Jay Street in Dumbo, a residential building at 124 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights and Jehovah’s Witnesses’ current world headquarters at 25-30 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights.

The three properties are expected to sell in separate transactions, the religious organization said, though it declined to provide an asking price for either of the buildings or the development site.

  • Jehovah Witness

Jehovah’s Witnesses for most part don’t support any public charities because Watchtower teaches them that the only way people will get help is through God’s (1914) kingdom so helping poor is a waste of time.
    Ca$hing out on the Kingdom.
The Watchtower corporation of New York the ‘Vatican’ of the Jehovah’s Witnesses being a religion, has properties that pay no taxes.
They have trained ‘volunteer’ constructions crews that build their real estate empire.
They flip sell many properties that they build for immense profit.
    That’s religion..

  • HereToStay

Hehehe – this is going to be fun. Not in the protected area, I dont think, so will likely be a gigantic tower! If not protected, let’s build the tallest building in Brooklyn here — the views will be superb…

Given that they’re an apocalyptic cult. Do you think they know something? Should I be concerned?

  • keithcarley

And who do you think is benefiting from this “immense profit”, since everyone who works at the Watchtower, from the janitors to the executives, lives in the same dormitories, eats in the same dining rooms and gets the same monthly allowance? Nobody there receives a salary, stock options, bonuses, or any other material incentive. So where do you suppose all this vast wealth goes?

The leaders live in poverty the way the pope does. Meanwhile the WT gambles with your donations, protects pedophiles in your Kingdom Halls, is involved in politics via the OSCE (sister organization of the U.N) Not to mention their 10 year affair with the U.N.
Forbids higher education, limits medical treatments, destroys families, etc.
I wouldn’t brag about the “we work for free” rank and file JWs are slave labor for a mega rich, extremely discructive corporation.
It’s the power trip for the leaders,it cracks me up when people insist that the Jehovah’s Witnesses Governing Body bosses are humble servants, who live in poverty. They don’t get that these creeps are manipulating their lives, that is the payoff for them.

How incredible it is, that scriptures point so vividly to
this organization, as they escape Columbia Heights and build their elaborate retreat in Warwick.

“Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his own people work for nothing, not paying them for their labor. He says, ‘I will build myself a great palace with spacious upper rooms.’ So he makes large windows in it, panels it with cedar and decorates it in red. “Does it make you a king to have more and more cedar? Did not your father have food and drink? He did what was right and just, so all went well with him. He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that not what it means to know me?” declares the Lord. “But your eyes and your heart are set only on dishonest gain, on shedding innocent blood and on oppression and extortion.” Jer 22:13-17

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 1 John 2:16

The Organization is viewed as a god. It is called the “earthly Zion”. It is, if only subconsciously, thought of as YHWH Himself, and as the only path to salvation; those within its walls slave completely for its ongoing existence through the physical building of it and the preaching to gain more believers, which brings in more dollars to support its existence. If YHWH was behind its survival and growth, why the cutbacks on building on other proposed sites and the laying off of numerous volunteers in Bethel?

“With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared? Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it. They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Even though someone cries out to it, it cannot answer; it cannot save them from their troubles.

Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.” Isa 46:5-9

“Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’ Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells. You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, ‘No one sees me.’

Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me.’ Isa 47:8-10 Rev 18:23

In the Watchtower’s eyes, there is NONE besides the
organization that will bring eternal life – they continue to build their pseudo “spiritual paradise” in now a more tranquil, pastoral, lakeside setting. This has become their concentrated effort; a paneled palace to allow the Governing Body to lounge in luxury.

“You said, ‘I will continue forever-the eternal queen!
But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen” Isa 47:7

    Please, wake up, Jehovah’s Witnesses!

It sounds like organized religion to me… At least their sidewalks were even and clean, they never caused trouble, and they kept their buildings in great shape. They also dressed nicely, were respectful, never littered, etc…
The lifestyle is clearly not for me or my family, but I think everyone attacks the lifestyle because it’s not for them, when it may be for others. Looking from the outside, it seems like the JW’s have a society where they take care of each other and live pretty simple lives, while praising the lord of their choosing. Probably not a lot of stress. It doesn’t sound so bad. They probably have time to work, raise their families and live out their lives in a peaceful manner. To them, how much do you think it matters that their leaders live a nicer life?
My guess is that lifestyle fits them much more than a “free” couple who lives in the heights, work 70+ hour weeks for 500k combined a year, pay a nanny 40k to raise their kids they barely see, all the while the “free” couples’ bosses (i.e. Leaders) are making 7 figures a year and living more lavishly.

I guess if they move out of their buildings and NYC gets attacked by terrorists shortly thereafter; then we will all have the answer.

The JWs are a real estate empire the same way you are a member of Mensa.

  • Andrew Porter

Any sort of discussion about JW properties on any website is always taken over by the loonies, *sigh*…

  • Chiafade

Yes yes JWs the nice clean people who never do anything wrong. They never abuse their people and they are never hypocritical and they don’t teach crazy dogma. They just do normal things like shun their children if they disobey the organization. Forever if need be because its the loving thing to do. Just like you would do to your family right?

Before becoming a JW apologist I suggest you familiarize yourself with their history. Such as when they banned organ transplants under threat of disfellowshipping/shunning. Same with accepting blood fractions and even vaccinations. These policies cost people their lives. They were eventually changed but the leadership never apologized for their mistaken views. They still don’t! But their just nice people right?

  • Chiafade

I’m sorry but the ones who own that property believe Jesus returned in 1914. At that time they taught the prophets would be resurrected in San Diego and that in the new earth black peoples skin would eventually turn white. Organ transplants were considered a form of cannibalism. Vaccines were forbidden among its members.

If some of us sound like loonies its because of ever being a part of that organization.
