TD Bank Moving to Former Citi Space at 181 Montague

It’s official: TD Bank has announced that its branch at 205 Montague Street, which is slated to be demolished to make way for a 47 story mixed use building, will move to the space at 181 Montague (photo) previously occupied by Citibank. The relocation is scheduled for August 2, 2024.

Here’s what the building looked like in this old postcard from a hundred years ago:

Didn’t Saint Ann’s School buy this building?

I believe St. Ann’s only bought the connecting but separate building facing Pierrepont Street.

  • Banet

Correct. The school only bought the Pierrepont half.

The school is just leasing right now. They have an option to buy. I assume they’ll exercise the option when they raise enough money.

  • Banet

    That is exactly the plan.

The math shows that in the long term, the school saves a meaningful amount of money by owning this Pierrepont building versus renting the space on Henry Street as well as a space on Clinton they call The Rotunda. Not to mention that Pierrepont is vastly nicer space.
