Given the situation I have observed not to push aside those who are most effected by this debacle. The meetings are a wild storm of wrong ideas proceeding from increasingly discredited education models.
If you actually rise and tell them what is wrong at this point you would have to contend with both the entrenched NYC education establishment and the parents who have been themselves woefully miseducated.
The proposal to simply inject dumbo children into 307 ignore the real root cause; the lack of very local right size educational facilities. And
the charter and 60 in no way really fill the need. And by the way, use of inadequate, poorly performing schools when new and much better modalities are needed IS aspirin on a very real cancer.

The children deserve better. Again I suggest everyone stop and read “School of Darkness” by Bella Dodd.

Yes, its called my eyes and ears!!! Compare the atmosphere in schools in say, 1940’s to early 60’s and now. Compare graduation rates, literacy, math abilities, student behavior, safety in schools, teen pregnancies, et al…got any idea the problems industry and business has finding well functioning individual who can be trained? and we’re all paying for this worsening, out of control situation through our taxes.

My “credentials” are that I am a taxpayer and a patriotic American who wants what’s best for my country. And what is currently going on in education, especially in NYC is Anything but what is good for my country and our children who are our nation’s future.

Right, I already said this. Prices didn’t raise. Our bill came out to $40 including tip, so for two people, that’s right.

Good to know that paying taxes and being patriotic makes you a valuable educational expert. Guess my 34 years and multiple graduate degrees can’t compete with that. By the way, does that same expertise extend to other specialized fields? Open-heart surgery, perhaps?

Poppycock! Noodles are pasta and pasta is not only a wonder, but good for you.

Pasta/noodles are the treasured and much beloved backbone of many cuisines.

“Poppycock” an expression as dated as your knowledge of nutrition.

You viewpoint, besides being snide, is indicative of one of the very central problems in this (and many) fields: here we have a system in free fall and the crew at the controls want respect and to be allowed to remain in control. Why? Because of their years of experience and “service”. You have 34 years of experience and other education establishment institutions have confirmed numerous recognitions so your an expert we should respect and follow…so, er, why is it that under YOU’RE WATCH our once fine system dropped like a rock!
And we should let the people who PRESIDED over the crash of our education system in this country continue to run the system?

There’s a reason why people have had enough and want and deserve a visceral Change in this country.

    Well, try this one Arch:

    http://blog.foodnetwork.com/healthyeats/2009/02/03/pasta-good-or-bad/

Of course, if you consider all carbs bad, you won’t be eating pasta, bread, rice and etc. But that doesn’t make them inherently unhealthy, does it?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

No, Not all carbs are “bad”
Whole grains in moderation are fine. My point was referring to most noodles which are made from white flour which has been heavily processed, sometimes vitamin supplements are mixed back into into it as it has almost no nutritional value left, called “Enriched Flour”. But it is still a very high glycemic carbohydrate, which means it will quickly be absorbed and spike your blood Glucose levels. Unless you are engaged in some sort of physical activity your body will turn the excess glucose into fat. To your body there isn’t much difference between drinking regular soda or eating white noodles.

Documents have been filed to appeal Justice Knipel’s decision on Pier 1 projects.
