Overrated. Trying to trade on the name of the famous sushi place there…

  • ColumbiaHeightster

You’re not current. Eamonns had moved up the street to the former Taperia space.

The effort, as clearly mentioned above, should be a dual effort; bring Heights children under a more modern better administration, and explore new modalities which have a record a success. The other direction of effort should be to improve conditions for the existing students in schools surrounding the Heights.
Given the wealth in the Heights, why can’t we help less fortunate surrounding communities?
Only a dual effort will really improve the over all situation. But disrupting the chosen lives of families both in the Heights and in surrounding communities is calious and just wrong!!

Is it Open Threat Thursday, yet? Good.

To the Unknown Dogwalker who deposited a five-pound bag of you-know-what in the gray plastic can on the corner of Hicks and Middagh:

Please do not put a heavy, thin plastic bag of such stuff in an unlined can, especially at the bottom where it is especially vulnerable to being smooshed. I’m sure our super thanks you in advance for your consideration.

  • Willow Street Watch

This is a classic example of a well controlled “public hearing” at which the outcome has already been carefully arranged. No matter what the students or parents want.

Everyone in the Heights should read School of Darkness by Bella Dodd who years ago predicted all this would happen. She knew, because she was one the people who planned what would happen!

  • Concerned

    It’s the right plan.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

Nope. I don’t mean UPSCALE, but compared to Hanco’s. Not sure why all the hate here. I seriously just mentioned a new restaurant in the hood. I have no relationship to it at all, just went there last night. Everyone has to chill out. We are all neighbors.

  • Willow Street Watch

Is YOUR child being sent outside of the Heights?

I suggest YOU read School of Darkness..

  • AnotherConcernedParent

If your kid lives in Dumbo, yes, by all means your child should be sent out of the Heights. PS 8 should be for those living in BHeights.

  • Anon

Please. Don’t spout jargon without proposing real and concrete solutions to the problems that PS 8 is facing – what the heck does “modern better administration”, and “new modalities” mean in terms of carving out more space for actual warm bodies? Until you come up with a better solution (and I mean more than just empty words) than the rezoning proposal, I don’t see why parents in Brooklyn Heights have to suffer through another horrific waitlist situation.

    It’s Kogane Ramen – http://www.koganeramen.com/
seemed a little empty when I walked by this evening…

  • SongBirdNYC

I’m working on my recap. For the record, I tape the meetings and transcribe them so I have air tight quotes. And with respect Willow Street Watch…I have not seen you at ANY of these overcrowding or re-zoning meetings. Do you have a school age child? Until you attend, hear what ALL attendees have to say please spare us the “curing cancer with asprin” lecture. That is all I’m going to say outside of my article. peace out.

  • StudioBrooklyn

are you messing with us? that sounds AMAZING!

  • StudioBrooklyn

I’m trying to understand your meaning: are you saying that it would be dangerous for kids from Brooklyn Heights to attend PS307? If so, why?

  • ColumbiaHeightster

BrooklynCoffeeLover, don’t worry about it. “HereToStay” just cannot help himself/herself from being mean. It’s been going on forever on this blog. Some people are just like that. Don’t take it personally. I chose to believe that he/she just has a lot of internet courage and does not represent the real fabric of our neighborhood.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

Wait, what? No kids from the Heights are being sent outside of the Heights…that’s whole point. Did you read the proposal?

  • heights res

307 is a wonderful school. Any parent would be lucky to have their child there.

  • StudioBrooklyn

You’re not the first person I’ve heard that from (unless you’re the same person). :)

  • heights res

I’ve “been there” also and yours was not my experience at all.

  • heights res

307 is a wonderful school and any parent would be lucky to have their child accepted there.

  • heights res

Glad to see we have such an accomplished educational expert in the neighborhood. Would you like to share your credentials?

  • heights res

    I’d send a child there.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

    Stop being rude.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

There ya go. so it’s about $12 for ramen, but with tip and all, our bill was $40 total.

  • BrooklynCoffeeLover

Looks like it’s actually $12-$14 for a bowl of ramen, my mistake

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

Aw come on, it’s a joke.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

$12-$15 according to the menu linked above. Maybe they already had a price increase :)
Oh and Hanco’s Pho is only $9.00 or $9.75 for Shrimp.
