On Thursday evening, September 24, the Brooklyn Historical Society will present “Nerd Nite Speed Dating” (would any true nerd spell night “nite”?), followed by two presentations on local history. Doors open at 7:00 for check-in. Speed dating starts at 7:30 and ends at 9:00, when the floor is given first to Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione, who will talk about “When Brooklyn Lost its Swagger: The Consolidation of 1898″; he will be followed by Mike Liss, whose topic is “Murder, Scandal, Love Nests and Child Brides: The Sensational Heyday of New York City Tabloids.” Admission is $25 for speed dating and the two presentations; the presentations alone are $10. If you want to speed date, you should purchase your ticket promptly, as only 20 men and 20 women will be able to participate. There’s more information and purchase tickets here.
