Bargemusic has a full weekend of concerts, including music by classical, romantic, impressionist, and modern composers. On Friday evening, August 21 at 8:00, pianist Wayne Weng (photo) will play works by Ravel, Schubert, Medtner, Messiaen, and Liszt. On Saturday evening, August 22 at 8:00, pianists Michael Brown and Adam Golka will play works by Dvorak, Ravel, and Schubert, and a composition by Mr. Brown. On Sunday afternoon, August 23 at 4:00, cellist Jan Müller-Szeraws, along with Mr. Golka on piano, will play works by Schumann, Debussy, and Beethoven. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated. This weekend, for the third consecutive year, the Under Armour Elite 24, showcasing the talents of the top 24 high school basketball players in the country, will be held on Pier 2, Brooklyn Bridge Park. There will be a skills competition Friday evening at 7:00 and an exhibition game Saturday afternoon at 4:00. Admission is free, but get there early to get a spot in the stands. On Sunday starting at 10:00 a.m. there will be a Family Field Day on Pier 5, near the foot of Joralemon Street. There will be lots of games and sports activities for kids. More information here. Sunday is also your last day to enjoy Smorgasburg on the Pier 5 uplands, before it decamps for the wilds of Prospect Park.
