Fans of the Bard of Avon will have three chances to see free performances of the comedy Measure for Measure this weekend on the Bridge View Lawn of Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park. The play begins at 7:00 p.m. this evening (Friday, August 14), tomorrow (Saturday, August 15), and Sunday, August 16. More details here.
Also in the park this weekend, Smorgasburg will be back on the Pier 5 uplands on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and you may take a free guided park tour by going to the Pier 1 entrance near the foot of Old Fulton Street at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. This weekend Bargemusic’s focus is on German composers, both romantic and baroque. This evening at 8:00 pianist Vassily Primakov plays works of Schumann. Tomorrow evening at 8:00 the St. Petersburg Piano Quartet will perform works by Schumann and Brahms. On Sunday afternoon at 4:00 cellist Jeffrey Solow will conclude his two part presentation of the six cello suites of J.S. Bach, with commentaries. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, co-sponsored by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.
