Kiehl’s Celebrates 6th Annual LifeRide for amfAR, Offers Beauty Treatments & Discounts

Need your beauty fix? Want to stock up on staples or pick up some gifts?  Stop by the Montague Street location of Kiehl’s and shop for a great cause.  To celebrate the sixth annual Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR, this Saturday, 8/15 through Monday, 8/17 customers will receive a 15% discount on all purchases (with the exception of charitable products and value sets).  Kiehl’s will donate that 15% to amfAR up to $115,000.  Eager customers afraid the shop may sell out of their favorites, can stop by today for the pre-sale.

In addition, the shop is offering free mini-facials, healthy skin checks and hand treatments from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm on Saturday 8/16 and Sunday 8/17.  Refreshments from Le Pain Quotidien and Juice Press will be offered to all appointments.  Prizes such as Soul Cycle Passes, Kiehl’s products and a massage chair are also being raffled off.

LifeRide is a “twelve-day motorcycle ride to raise funds for HIV/AIDS research and help find a cure in our lifetime” explained the event’s press release.  This year’s ride began in Denver, CO on August 4th and culminates in San Diego on August, 15th.  Rallying at 10 retail stores along the route, Kiehl’s will donate a total of $150,000 over the course of the ride.

Each celebrity rider has their own fundraising page and will be competing against each other to see whose fans can raise the most funds to help find a cure for AIDS.  At the conclusion of this year’s ride, Kiehl’s will have raised $1,270,000 for amfAR, since 2010, funding seven cure-related research projects.

Kiehl’s used to be one of the great, mostly hidden gems of New York that only the alternative health elite and the more cultured knew about. Now they’ve found expansion financing and have attached themselves to a number of oh so PC causes.

They still have dozens of great products which allow you to avoid or dispense with big pharma.

But really, if they want respect; they need to put a Y2K and a Boss Hoss (and I mean the Big Block) in their windows at all locations….
