A bumblebee just flew in the window—I must have missed the first day of screen season.

For anyone who got up early and said, “Where the heck is OTW?”, my sincere apology. I forgot to set it up last night. Homer’s shoes are hard to fill.

  • Hicks

Thanks for doing it Claude. Mrs. Fink you and little Fink are in my continued thoughts and prayers.

To everyone who drives motor scooters and motorcycles and parks in the neighborhood: my scooter was stolen from Columbia Place last Wednesday night. I had gotten lax with chaining it up after years of parking in Brooklyn Heights with no problems. Please lock your bikes – there is a thief among us.

  • MonroeOrange

I find it very ironic that someone who goes by ‘cop’ isn’t aware that there are thieves in nyc.

FYI…I have had my seats stolen on henry street…that’s right…seats stolen, front and back! i have had my battery stolen on cranberry…and i could go on and on…and this was all in the 2000s….the list would be even longer if i included the 80’s.

  • MonroeOrange

no need to aplogize..you are doing wonderful work in keeping this blog going strong.

PS…anyone thought about renaming the blog to honor Homer in some way?

    Homer’s BHB perhaps?

  • willowtowncop

I’ve been parking all over NYC for almost 10 years – in Brownsville, in Coney Island, in Red Hook, in Manhattan – no one ever bothered it. There isn’t always a good place to park where you can chain it up.

I was trying to be nice and warn my neighbors that I made a mistake by feeling safe and not chaining it and maybe they should think about chaining theirs. This is why I don’t post on the internet any more. Someone always has to make a d-ish comment.

  • Jorale-man

I tried the new Paris bakery on Court Street. Not bad. The croissant was very good, coffee decent. Impressive variety of sandwiches and baguettes, which I plan to return for. Yes, it’s a chain shop, but a big step up for that part of Court Street.

  • Eddyde

Aw don’t let that troll get to you. Thanks for the heads up and good to see you posting again :)

  • Eddyde

Anyone know what’s up with the former Taperia and now former Eammon’s space?

  • Mingo

Honestly, I am grateful the blog is still going and understand that these are trying times.

    Thank you for your efforts.

  • willowtowncop

Thank you Eddyde – it’s nice to remember that there are normal people out there behind the keyboards.

  • Hicks

I think that’s a great idea and a perfect name for the blog.

Ironic how they shut down LICH and are now looking to spend close to a billion dollars on a new hospital in Brooklyn.

  • Remsen Street Dweller

Protest the disgraceful, deplorable, despicable, contemptible, appalling, loathsome shut down of LICH tomorrow between 11 AM to 1 PM.

  • StudioBrooklyn

    No worries!

Just curious–has someone taken over the Twitter account as well or is it out of commission?

  • StudioBrooklyn

As much as I share in the sentiments of those who wish to honor Homer Fink I actually doubt he would want the blog’s name to change. Though he was incredible at its helm it has for some time been bigger than one person and I think it should live on as its own entity.

Perhaps instead there could be a permanent section dedicated to Fink’s memory?

  • Buzz Gundersen

Fun to have an outlet of that huge Asian chain nearby. Great curry buns without the Momofuko price.

  • Reggie

The new hospital will be nowhere near downtown Brooklyn and responds to need identified well before LICH closed. Just sayin’.

  • Middagh_Girl

Does anyone use a cleaning service in Brooklyn Heights that they love? I’m thinking about having someone come in and “deep clean” my apartment once or twice a month and would appreciate any recommendations!

  • MonroeOrange

jezzz…all i said was that it was ironic..bc you have cop in your name and you don’t think thieves are among us…chill out

  • Willow Street Watch

The helicopter plague continues..two doing a figure eight over my building last night at
    3 AM!!

  • MonroeOrange

yes i do know…spoke to them last night.

  • Ann B Chapin

Claude, I have not received the blog for several days?? :-(

  • miriamcb

Does anyone know what’s going on with The Dumpling House?

  • miriamcb

I’d like to echo what others have said and enthusiastically shout “hooray!” that the blog is still going.

  • nswz11

    care to elaborate?
