I wish it was the Pier House

The problem, then, as you know, lies squarely with deBlasio. 20+ NYC officials (federal, state and local) have requested a ban of the tourist helicopters from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport. Numerous community groups, including the BHA, have joined in. Even the NJ legislature passed a resolution requesting a ban. The Mayor has said “no”, and is unmoved by the impact of nonstop helicopter drone for 10 hrs/day (he doesn’t dispute the documented health and environmental impacts, by the way. He’s apparently willing to sacrifice waterfront homes, schools and businesses to keep the tourist helicopters away from Midtown). No one has been able to convince him otherwise, so his defiance is the way it will be. I keep hoping our elected officials will exert more pressure than the letters they’ve written so far (isn’t that what politics is all about), but they don’t seem willing to go there. And ps, the President of Stop the Chop is a she.

you need to contact our elected officials about this (federal state and local). That’s the information they take back to deBlasio, who is alone in supporting the tourist helicopter traffic among elected officials, but who has sole power to revoke the lease that allows them to operate there. Ie– they will welcome hearing from you!

The only official who supports the tourist helicopter traffic is deBlasio– and sadly, he’s in sole control of the heliport. But yes, he seems to be totally supportive of this niche tourist special interest against his own constituents. Here’s ALL the background info: http://www.stopthechopnynj.org/ The ONLY thing that might help is more public outcry.

@StoptheChop:disqus I am terribly sorry for assuming you were a man. Goes to show the unconscious gender bias in all of us. I am going to keep bugging the BHA, aside from actual protests, they are our best hope here in NYC.

The acupuncturist I’ve known and used for over ten years is giving a Holistic Baby workshop next Saturday, January 31st at Caribou Baby in Brooklyn.

Jennifer Taveras, the acupuncturist, has the gift of providing healing with her deep knowledge and kindness of spirit.

Oh– I don’t run the group but am involved with it. The Pres lives in Battery Park City. The BHA is totally frustrated with the Mayor on this issue– because the Mayor refuses to listen to or work with anyone.

Re: Helicopter noise. I’ve been involved for over a year and recently sent Daniel Squadron an update email (again). I got back a template response that referred to the last meeting with the Mayor’s delegates as if it hadn’t happened yet(!) I’m stumped. How do we convince City Hall that WE ARE the stakeholders when our 20-odd elected officials that are supposedly anti-choppers don’t flex their political muscles? I think it’s time to hit the pavement and organize vocal, visible protest at the helipad and at the Mayor’s office.

Should have written that the email was sent to over ten officials and Squadron’s was the only reply, such as it was..

Suggestions please for best nail / wax place in the Montague Street vicinity. Thanks!

None of them is responding to us anymore. They had their meeting, wrote their “Strongly Worded Letter”, so what more can we expect? If you’re up for a rally, contact http://www.stopthechopnynj.org/ — we’re assessing interest.
