The Eagle reports that Jack Skillman, who served as headmaster of Packer Collegiate Institute from 1968 to 1982, died in Maine, where he had resided for some time, last December 15. From the Eagle:
Jack’s tenure at Packer played a pivotal and significant role in bringing the school into the 20th century. His leadership accomplishments included guiding the school to become fully coeducational, having the vision to purchase an adjoining landmark church, working to increase an ethnic and racially diverse student enrollment, hiring dynamic and talented faculty and expanding the school’s dramatic arts programs.
Mr. Skillman is survived by his former wife of 35 years, three adult children, and two grandchildren. He will be interred at Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven, Connecticut. Donations in his memory may be made to Packer.
